Frequently Asked Questions about getting your visa to Iran:

How long Does it take to get my visa?

It depends on the visa class that you are applying for. If You are applying for a regular Tourist visa, it may take few up to two weeks to get your visa authorization number from Iranian Foreign Ministry. There are certain rules that apply to American, UK and Canadian nationals which requires them to sign up with a tour group in order to get their Tourist visa, which in tun may increase the wait time for them to get their vis from 2 weeks up to a month. So as rule of thumb try to apply 2 month ahead of your planned travel date and do not make any ticket reservation until you have your visa in hand.

What do i do first?

You just need to fill out and submit our online visa application form plus sending a scanned copy of your first page of passport. That is what we most likely will ever need to get your visa. That said it often helps if you could send us a rough estimate of your travel itinerary. That certainly will increase the chances that Iranian Foreign Ministry will expedite your visa issuance process.

What documents do i need?

What are my chances?

Pretty high, up to 90% in most of cases. There are factors that help you increase your chances of getting your visa. One being to be as accurate as possible while filling out your visa application form. It best to double check every thing for accuracy , spelling …etc before your submit your visa application form.

It is best to apply as early on during the last few months before your actual travel date as possible, although we have been pretty consistently successful in getting visa even within few days deadline but just remember you don’t don’t want to rely on your chances. Apply early, fill the information in as correctly as possible and keep a finger crossed. Things usually work out just fine.

How much will it cost me?

We charge a flat fee of 50 USD for processing each visa application. This one time fee covers the initial visa  application fee plus any further reapplication, should there be any need. So in a nutshell that is all what we charge you. That said there is a second fee that Iranian Embassy will charge you for granting your visa. That fee is variable depending on your nationality. Some nationalities don’t pay almost anything and some who get charged one 100 USD. The determining factor here is the reciprocity rule which basically means the Iranian Embassy will charge a corresponding fee to what your government would be charging an Iranian nationals to grant his or her visa. Its just all old school politics!

Do i have to sign up with a tour?

Not necessarily. Most nationalities do not need to sign up with any pre organized tour unless and expect if you happen to be a American, Canadian or UK national. This is what Iranian Foreign Ministry has determined and again it is reflective of spirit of reciprocity as much as political stances of these government  in the way they interact with each other. The more trust between nations the better for every body else. Let’s hope we all see a visa free world one day.

The above mentioned nationals can chose to either be part of a pre arranged tour or we conducing a tail made tour for them that fits their budget and available vacation time. Contact us and we will go over your options in more detail.

How do i pick up my visa?

After Iranian Foreign Ministry issues your visa authorization number, they will send a copy of that to us and one to your designated Iranian embassy where you want to go to pick up your visa. That particular Iranian embassy or consulate will ask you fill out a couple basic forms and then they give your visa which is in a form of a adhesive sticker. That visa sticker will be placed in your passport and should not be removed. Embassy will also charge your a consular visa fee that as mentioned above depends on your nationality. Please refer to our Forms and Fees page above to get a better picture of what the Embassy may or may not charge you.

How long the visa is good for?

Depending on what you have asked for in your initial visa placation form and itinerary, the Iranian Foreign ministry will make a determination of how long your visa should have time. Basically if you asked for a 3 weeks travel to Iran on your visa the Iranian Foreign Ministry will most likely grant you a visa that is valid for a travel duration of 3 to 4 weeks. Sometime you just want to be here for 3 days and still you will get a 30 days visa. In rare cases people ask for 4 weeks and only get 3 weeks visa whites fine since we can help you get a visa extension which here to make up for what your original visa is short of.

Remember that from the moment you receive your visa at Iranian embassy your visa is valid for a 6 months period whiten which you can travel and stay in Iran for a timer period thetas within the granted TRAVEL time period of above mentioned example.

Can i extend my visa?

Sure. In most cases you can get up to a few extra weeks on top of what your initial visa was for. The process is easy . Please refer to the Visa Extension link above for more detailed information.

What if i get denied?

Then we apply again for you. The initial rejections , even though very rare are often due to mistakes in the information that was filled out at the time of online visa application and it all gets sorted out pretty fast and you get your visa in the second try.

There are also situations that Iranian Foreign ministry determines that certain applicants are not deemed eligible to travel to Iran. That may apply to certain countries and nationalities such as Israel nationals or certain african countries. The amicable relationship between your country and Iran is a big factor here. Also not to forget that there are individuals that seek Iranian visa for activities that contradict the spirit of normal travel by definition. That applies to individuals such as those that are known to Interpol or have a standing warrant for them from their respective countries. There are less than 2 % of these cases that we deal with at any given time.
